Establishing the First “Women Journalists for Climate” Network in Iraq

The Organization for Empowering Women in Media (TAMKEEN) announces today, Saturday, November 19, 2022, the establishment of “Women Journalists for Climate” network, which includes a number of women Journalists engaged in climate issues and climate change and its impact on people’s lives.

The establishment of this important network, which is the first of its kind in Iraq, resulted after a two-day workshop held by TAMKEEN on climate issues’ coverage.

The network will coordinate with civil society organizations working in the field of climate change and its impact on the lives of people and living creatures, through wide awareness campaigns, highlighting positive initiatives in this field, as well as completing in-depth Journalistic investigations covering the impact of climate on people’s lives in general and women in particular.

The network will also train Iraqi women Journalists on writing about climate issues in Iraq and raising awareness about the dangers of climate change, which has caused major problems for the society.
